OUR INTRODUCTION

Know About Our Us

St. Maria Goretti United Women Association is an indigenous Non-Government Organization established in 2016 by community women volunteers who embraces and imitate the good work of women saints from the catholic faith responding to the plight of the most marginalized and vulnerable groups of people to realize their full potential through innovative thinking, planning, action response and
implementation. These especially include women, adolescent girls, children, OVCs and the youth in the rural communities of Kasese District, Bunyangabu, Bundibugyo and Ntoroko and beyond.

St. Maria Goretti United Women Association is legally registered by the Government of Uganda as a Community Based Organization (CBO) through Kasese District Community Development Department od civil society organization/CBO

We ensure that innovation is pivotal in development where local change actors are in the driver’s seat to
adapt tested knowledge and skills and transform them into action especially to the undeserved groups of
people and communities.

VISION

An empowered society where marginalized people are health and Economically Empowered to realizetheir full potential.

MISSION

Creation of a long lasting Innovative and adopted Solutions to Poor Health, Poverty, hunger, poor
education and Social Injustice for Sustainable Development.

Core aims and objectives

Gender equality and social justice: Work to achieve equal status for women in all aspects of social, political, and economic life.
Women’s rights: Advocate for and ensure the implementation of laws and regulations that protect women’s rights and welfare.
Empowerment: Build women’s capacity and confidence by providing training, education, and resources.
Economic and livelihood empowerment: Support women’s entrepreneurship, improve access to credit and microfinance, and create opportunities for employment and financial inclusion.

SPECIFIC AREAS OF FOCUS

Leadership and political participation: Encourage more women to run for political office, increase female representation in decision-making, and promote a culture of support for women in politics.

Health and safety: Educate on women’s health issues, improve access to healthcare services, and implement campaigns to prevent gender-based violence.
Education: Increase girls’ enrolment and retention in schools by addressing barriers like early marriage and cultural biases.
Peace and security: Work for peace and ensure that women and girls are included in peace and security efforts.
Community and public awareness: Raise public awareness about women’s rights, gender equity, and the problems they face.
